Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Director, Asset Acquisition will be responsible for managing the origination, negotiation, due diligence and closing of PV solar investments. The ideal candidate has in-depth, hands-on management experience and must be able to add value by selecting and managing attractive acquisitions within the PV solar energy markets. Experience structuring complex, multi-faceted transactions that maximize economic value, executing deals, building relationships, and leading teams is required. The ability to work both independently and as a team member are critical, as well as the desire and innovative mind set to operate as an important contributor within a fast-paced corporate environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Build a network and manage relationships with potential stakeholders
Maintain and cultivate relationships - both at a conceptual level with C-level executives as well as at a hands-on level with management
Manage multiple active deals simultaneously
Evaluate market information, identify potential customers and opportunities; establish innovative outreach strategies for the acquisition team to secure attractive assets
Identify client needs, engage key influencers and decision makers; develop solutions and lead presentations for clients, win business mandates and close deals
Develop strategic approaches, proposals, budgeting/pricing and presentations for use with clients
Work closely with clients to understand and manage all substantive project issues involving tax, legal, and financial aspects of a deal
Monitor ongoing market trends in the power and specifically PV solar markets
Interface with the Project Finance team to develop and structure optimal finance solutions
Interface with the Project Development team on utility and incentive related matters
Interface with the Operations team on all structural and technical solar project aspects
Make decisions which are guided by balancing resource availability and functional objectives
Work with, and possibly mentor, more junior team members to develop their skill set
Participate in trade organizations, conferences, and industry associations to enhance Safari’s visibility as a preferred PV solar provider
Support and lead deal teams to meet both customer and Safari expectations
Basic Qualifications
Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a rapidly growing, company. In addition, the Director Asset Acquisitions must possess:
Bachelor’s degree (technical discipline or business); MBA preferred
Minimum of 8 years financial services, consulting, or energy experience, preferably in renewable energy
Strong professional network of decision makers and other stakeholders
Experience in reviewing and understanding detailed legal agreements with the ability to work effectively with the internal finance and legal team
