R&O are supporting the growth of a key client in the US for their East Coast operation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing developer EPC as they transition into larger utility scale projects.

We are looking for a talented project engineer to support development efforts as well as act as the link between various project parties and field personnel. You will be responsible for orderliness on site and ensure compliance with safety regulations. You will ensure quality standards are met, and all equipment and materials are always available on site. 

To ensure success you should complete projects on time and within budget, and never compromise on quality. Top candidates will be strong leaders, pro-active and perform well under pressure.

Summary of Role:

Applies technical expertise and strong project management to support the development, engineering, procurement and construction of high quality, low cost PV solar power generation facilities. Ensures assigned project engineering accountabilities are completed on time and in compliance with all technical commercial, safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements to meet or exceed performance targets. The individual will work within a team responsible for effectively collaborating with project managers and field staff to design, review and approve engineering scopes of work for a wide range of commercial, government and utility solar PV projects ranging in size from kW to multi-MW.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Review contracts and summarise electrical system design requirements.

  • Review electrical system specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with applicable codes and contracts.

  • Provide technical direction in the execution of electrical scope of work on medium and large sized PV projects.

  • Manage civil and structural engineering development of project drawings with third party partners

  • Coordinate the relationship of electrical and civil aspects of the job.

  • Work with third party engineers to develop all required permit drawings for complete scopes of work as required.

  • Develop and maintain a quality design threshold through use of defined quality procedures.

  • Ensure all work carried out confirms with agreed codes and practices, meets all requirements of the contracts specifications and ensure all work is carried out within agreed schedules, budgets and procedures in a safe manner.

  • Prepare/review load lists, power system studies, single lines, and equipment layouts, area classifications, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions and technical bid analysis.

  • Perform routine and complex engineering, design, analysis or other technical tasks within the electrical discipline utilizing current technology, available standards, calculation software, templates and cataloged products.

  • Review contracts and summarize electrical system design requirements, develop electrical one line diagrams and perform electrical system studies using ETAP software.

  • Review electrical system specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with applicable codes and contracts.

  • Coordinate with construction and project management groups to ensure cost effective electrical designs.

  • Participate in major equipment selection and technical vetting

  • Support Development team with SLD diagrams, IA and PPA review for project compliance.

  • Optimize project costs, schedule and risk within the engineering disciplines.

  • Work with Project Management staff on disposition of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s).
