The Finance Director, under the supervision of the shareholdersappointees, will lead discussions with financial institutions to find the best financing solutions for delivering offshore wind projects. You will lead the contracting, procurement, and supply chain engagement including procurement strategy and negotiations with potential contractors and the selection processes. As an officer of, the Finance Director will provide clear recommendations to the Project Director and board of directors on managing complex financing and procurement issues. This role requires thoughtful coordination and cooperation with the other senior member.

Main accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance in understanding offshore wind supply finance markets and lead negotiations of contracts and strategic decisions regarding relationships with lenders and support of other areas
  • Work closely with project partners and lead the development team to identify, analyze, and execute the optimum project finance solution for the project by meeting deadlines and supporting the internal approval processes for PPA bidding and eventually FID and financial close
  • Provide leadership and guidance in understanding the offshore wind supply chain markets and lead negotiations of contracts and strategic decisions regarding relationships with suppliers in support of other areas
  • Develop contracting strategies and processes for tendering requests for proposals (RFPs), overseeing the commercial assessment of vendor proposals, and negotiating contracts that result in the best value possible.
  • Lead the development and execution of the tax equity strategy is in the best possible position to receive federal tax credits
  • Responsible for the project planning and controls function including:
    • Oversee the budgets (ie. results, cash flow analysis, etc), monitor follow-ups, manage the budget consolidation process, analyze deviations and coordinate the information between departments to provide the information needed to make financial projections for the project, and track business plans to support decision making
    • Approve expenses and contracts, analyze budget conformity, and guarantee business rationality
    • Manage cash and ensure detailed reporting and management of project treasury forecasts to support sponsor cashflow needs
    • Create monthly management accounts and explanatory information to project sponsors and ensure financial position is reported to project Board
  • Responsible for accounting, tax, and insurance matters including:
    • Create annual financial statements and meet with auditors to ensure compliance to appropriate accounting standards
    • Ensure accounts are submitted to the appropriate regulatory body on time
    • Ensure the tax compliance, to ensure all tax returns are submitted on time including Corporation Tax and VAT
    • Create and implement a project insurance strategy
  • Responsible for team management, performance management, and people development of all financial staff
  • Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional teams
  • As a member of the project Executive Committee, you will be responsible for making decisions delegated by board of directors
  • Other duties as assigned

Direct reports: Up to 5. Additional reports are expected as project matures.

Travel: Up to 50%

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the energy sector preferred. Experience in the offshore wind or renewables industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing a finance department, ideally within the offshore wind industry
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
