Responsibilities
The qualified candidate should be familiar with the design and operation of utility electrical systems which they can apply their knowledge for developing new designs
The ability to apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop the most complete and competent design
Perform quality reviews of project deliverables
Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
Develop and prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables.
Perform various distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
Apply strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
Your Profile/Experience
Three (6) + years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related Engineering Technology degree from an ABET accredited program
The qualified candidate should be experienced with utility standards, joint facilities design, compatible units, and construction package development
Familiarity with distribution design software, both overhead and underground, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices
Professional Engineering license (P.E.) or ability to achieve P.E. within six (6) months of hire date
Strong knowledge of electrical distribution power flow.
Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Proficiency in distribution design software and GIS to aid in design.
Strong knowledge regarding easements, right-of-way, and permitting for distribution projects.
