Overview
Position Summary:
The Performance Engineer is responsible for development of PV solar performance models during the design engineering phase of a project. This modeling includes the use of PVSYST, the industry standard software for energy modeling, as well as ancillary tools and resources to stay current with prevailing PV solar modeling best practices. The Performance Engineer also supports performance testing after substantial completion.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain energy models for PV solar and battery energy storage projects
Utilize PVSYST to produce reports suitable for commercial and contractual use
Develop ancillary systems to support energy modeling
Interface with Commercial Team to support client needs related to performance modeling
Develop preliminary electrical one-line diagrams for use in system modeling
Perform preliminary electrical system studies to inform system losses for performance modeling
Review electrical system specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with applicable codes, contracts, and project energy models
Understand the terms of the Prime Agreement as it impacts engineering activities and deliverables
Specify components to meet project specific data collection requirements
Support the commissioning of utility scale I&C systems with an emphasis on the needs for performance testing
Develop data collection methods and procedures to meet contractual requirements for performance testing
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university preferred. Other Engineering and STEM related degrees may be considered when coupled with relevant experience
Minimum four (4) years relevant work experience
Experience with the design of PV solar projects required
Proficient with PVSYST v6.8 and later
Proficient with AutoCAD (desired), and MS Office
Proficiency with ETAP preferred
Strong time management and analytical skills
Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting information to large groups
