Duties and Responsibilities for a Development Engineer
Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal review and direction.
Delegate and review project tasks to various team members to ensure on-time and complete delivery of technical documents.
Review scope of work and technical specifications for RFPs or similar solicitations.
Provide scope qualifications, schedule, array layout, single line diagrams, energy production modeling, and cost estimate.
Lead the design center to receive and review design, energy models, cost estimates, and schedules.
Lead cost estimating manager as needed to establish baseline project budgets, final proposal estimates and indicative costs.
Lead interconnection manager for application submittal, utility research, risk analysis, and upgrade results.
Lead land development manager to procure services and review environmental, permitting, and real estate due diligence.
Lead third party engineers, procure and review due diligence for geotechnical, civil, structural, and electrical engineering.
Procure adequate technical due diligence for opportunities and engage third party consultants as required.
Participate in prime contract negotiations to provide technical and scope expertise.
Stay current on codes, standards, new solar technologies, jurisdictional/utility requirements, and installation best practices.
Mentor other team members to develop their individual skills.
Attend site visits, team meetings with internal & external partners, and customer calls and meetings.
Provide hand-off of developed project to project execution teams.
Demonstrate ethics and professionalism at all times.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction related field.
3-5 years’ experience in renewable energy industry.
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NEC and IBC.
Fluency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, AutoCAD, PV Syst, MS Project, and other design and construction management software.
Project experience to include project development and permitting, conceptual and detailed design, project engineering, scheduling, cost estimating, procurement, interconnection, risk analysis, and contracting.
Demonstrated ability to manage and interface effectively with cross-functional employee groups of all levels and competencies.
Proven ability to adapt to change in a calm and measured manner.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
Must be a proven team leader and problem solver.
Willingness to travel, as required.
