RO Energy is working with a leading US Owners Utility Scale Solar & Energy Storage Developer who are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to direct teams of Project Engineers and Engineering Managers.

This is a remote role and will include up to 25% travel to projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities for Senior Engineering Manager

Our client seeks an innovative and motivated individual that will have responsibilities responsible for the design and engineering of Large Utility scale solar and BESS projects in late stage development.  

The Senior Engineering Manager must be able to work independently with little to no instruction. The successful candidate will have a depth of experience in the development, analysis, and design of utility-scale PV and BESS systems.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Project execution

• Project Scop of work and design standards development

• Coordinate engineering consultants to develop project construction drawings

• Project Development

• Technical project due diligence and project engineering design review

• Energy production and performance modelling for Utility PV and Utility PV+BESS systems

• Assessment of model accuracy including meteorological assessment and P-50/P-90 analysis

• Engineering Support

• Review recent technology and companies for inclusion on the Approved Vendor List

• PV and BESS system design optimization to maximize reliability and reduce cost

• Collaborate with Asset Management team to troubleshoot existing systems or develop repair and remediation plans

Qualifications for Senior Engineering Manager role

• University Degree in engineering or equivalent

• At least 10 years experience in PV system design, development and construction

• Experience with BESS design

• Electrical design experience including 1 line and 3 line diagram conventions, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnecting means requirements, equipment selection, grounding methodologies, and arc flash/short circuit analysis

Additional plus qualifications

• OSHA 10 Certified, PE Licence or PMP Certification

• Experience with PVSyst, ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD and other advanced modelling tools

• Substation/HV design experience

• Civil/structural/SCADA/commissioning engineering design experience

​Salary ranges from $140,000 - $190,000 with 30% target bonus on annual base salary.
