The role of the project manager includes managing the planning, design, engineering, procurement and construction activities on high-value, high-visibility and multi-year utility electrical substation and transmission line projects delivering power ranging from 500 kV to 12 kV.   

Job Responsibilities 

  • Manages, oversees, and coordinates all aspects of project activities supported by a matrix team consisting of internal departments and external consultants/contractors performing with responsibilities such as engineering, civil construction, physical electrical construction, protection and control construction, testing and commissioning. Serves as the single point of contact with outside entities including customers.

  • Proactively communicates project updates to team and management, maintaining accurate and up to date records, including project management reports and status updates to provide visibility to current and potential project risks.

  • Establishes and monitors the project budget and schedule; and provides team leadership to support schedule and budget performance.

  • Responsible for overall project performance as well as managing the scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance. 

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Periodic travel is required

PMP Certification preferred

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in field construction engineering, construction project management, contract administration, construction site management, or other equivalent project management experience. 

Experience developing schedules using either MS Project or P6 

Familiarity with electric power industry and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services
