RO are on the look out for a Senior Director of Project Development, which will lead a team of development associates and analysts to build out a cross-technology greenfield portfolio, while assisting in evaluating and sourcing M&A opportunities. This individual will be responsible for tenaciously driving market development and value creation across diverse project pipelines. While the Senior Director will work closely with the management team, they are expected to be hands-on and have a detailed grasp of both the details and the big picture.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Spearhead market and project development, with a specific focus on different ISO’s, taking full ownership of project success.

  • Innovate and improve upon existing business models to deliver exceptional results.

  • Recruit, train, and manage a small, high-performing team to drive regional success.

  • Develop, own, and execute the project development strategy and tactics for Distributed Generation (DG) markets.

  • Collaborate closely with various functions, including finance, revenue optimization, transmission, and procurement to thoroughly evaluate project assumptions and maximize value across various factors.

  • Manage a team comprising market leads, business development leads, developers, and support staff, offering guidance and mentorship in negotiation, analysis, and risk assessment.

  • Direct market-wide activities with a strong emphasis on budget management and project profitability.

  • Originate, lead, and/or oversee due diligence for acquisition projects, encompassing projects, sites, and counterparties.

  • Analyze and interpret regulations, program economics, input prices, and other market data, providing valuable input into the company's business plan and development strategy.

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships across policy groups, customer acquisition and management providers, peer community developers, and investors.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for focus in energy, environmental, business, or engineering industries. Master's degrees are a plus.

  • 6-10+ years of experience in renewable energy development, including direct experience with at least two technology types.

  • Strong working knowledge of GIS platforms and the ability to manipulate GIS data is a plus.

  • Proven experience in directly managing project stakeholders, communities, and policy makers to achieve optimal project and market outcomes.

  • A deep understanding of the policy, regulatory, and competitive dynamics that impact revenue and market access in DG/Community markets.

  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.

  • A strong interest in joining a dynamic, value-driven environment and being an integral part of a high-performing and collaborative team.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and hiring a small team.
